"REAL STEELPAN" is an application that recreates the sound of steel pans on your iPad/iPhone. Also known as steel drums and kettle drums, this musical instrument originated in the Caribbeans Trinidad and Tobago. Please enjoy these beautiful tones that were sampled from a real steel pan (Tenor Pan).
Tapping your screen with your finger will produce a regular sound like playing the steel pan with a mallet once. If you push and hold a note, it will produce a two-handed roll on that note. You can also produce a roll by holding down the drumstick/mallet icon in the lower-left corner of the screen while playing notes. When using this “roll icon,” you do not have to push and hold notes to get the roll sound.
The "Tap & hold to roll" function can now be turned on/off. When disabled, performance response is quicker, but you cannot "hold to roll." Regardless of this setting, however, the "Roll" button in the lower-left corner of the screen is always active.
There are two performance screens:
One has the notes laid out just like a real steel pan.
The other has the notes laid out like a piano keyboard, which is particularly useful if you are an inexperienced pannist.

Nice app. Im a pan player and this app is as close to the real thing as I have found in an app. Worth the price
This is almost as playable as my $185 Jumbie Jam, for three bucks! REAL STEELPAN is easily the best of the iPhone/iPod Touch pan apps available. I would like to see an option to decrease the number of available notes and increase playing space, and theres room for improvment on the quality of the higher pitches, but overall this is a great app (and Im having some buyers remorse for buying a new competitor - sorry #1 but this one is REAL!) ~D!
Its a really nice app if only you could make another real steel drum app but a (four drum cello steel drum) not a triple cello, that would be great because I have a c-lead and a cello and it would also be nice to practice on the cello on the go to but all in all its a great app
Its a fake dont waste money on it.
This app is awesome and displays the steelpan perfectly, has all the right notes in the right places, and has a fully tuned sound. When I dont have a real steel pan near me I use this and it is great. Completely worth the money!!
